Online American Education

NIS provides a fully digital, rich curriculum for students that features interactive software, live class sessions, and collaborative environments while giving teachers flexibility and control to maximize each student's full potential. Many children do not receive the individually focused and flexible learning they need in a traditional classroom setting. Parents and educators who choose NIS understand the great potential of an individualized education.

An Exceptional Support System

  • Well-qualified, certified teachers are trained in modern teaching methodologies to educate students enrolled in NIS. A team of subject-specific teachers are assigned to each student that conduct online lectures and discussions, hold office hours, set and grade assignments.
  • Academic Coaches and Advisors are assigned to help direct the Learning Coach, manage the Individualized Learning Plan, monitor progress, and to focus on each student’s individual needs.
  • College Counselors are available to students to plan their High School track and achieve their post-secondary goals.
  • A community of connected learners: NIS offers access to virtual clubs that cater to a wide variety of student interests. All core classes include live and recorded teaching sessions where students can interact each week with other students and their teachers.

  • Professional or aspiring athletes and performers
  • Students whose needs are not being addressed within their local schools

Online Learning System

NIS students use the Online Learning System to access their daily lessons, which include all of the required information and resources. They can also:

  • Submit their assignments directly online
  • Participate in live web classes called Class Connects
  • Join interactive discussions about their studies
  • Connect with their teachers, Learning Coaches and Academic Advisors and reach out for extra help whenever they need it
  • Experience the many online clubs and virtual field trips
  • The Learning Coach has the exact same access that parents have, providing extra support for students and families as they get acquainted with the many tools and resources.

The Learning Coach’s Role in Online Schooling

The learning coach works in conjunction with the teacher and the academic advisor, helping facilitate progress through the daily lessons and working to modify the pace and schedule according to the child’s needs. The learning coach assists the student to stay on schedule, monitors attendance, and communicates with the online teachers and academic advisors

Although the learning coach helps the students in managing the schedule and ensuring the student is completing the work at a reasonable pace, teachers and academic advisors remain constantly involved to monitor progress, ensure mastery, and develop specific intervention plans.
